Some say that the human soul no longer exists after death, because it is written: “When you eat of it you will surely die” (Ge 2:17), and, “The soul who sins is the one who will die” (Eze 18:4). Of course, it is true that when a sinner dies, his soul also dies. But the death of the body differs from that of the soul, because the body is formed from the dust of the ground and the spirit is given by God (Ecc 12:7).
