When it comes to the Resurrection Day, people first think of eggs and bunnies. Then, are eggs and bunnies, which are the symbols of Easter, truly biblical? No.
The religious ceremonies of the Catholic Church and other churches with boiled eggs and bunnies did not originate from the Bible. Then, where did the boiled eggs and bunnies originate from? We can find the secret in the name “Easter.”
“The term ‘Easter’ did not originate from Christianity.” – Vine’s Complete Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words –
“Easter was named after Eostre, who was the goddess of the ancient Saxon people.” – De Ratione Temporum –
The goddess Easter was called by different names by different peoples in different regions.
“...by the Hebrew form of her name, Ashtoreth. So ‘Easter’ is found in the Bible—as part of the pagan religion God condemns!” - The Good News, March / April 2006 –
Eggs and bunnies, used as symbols of Easter today, also originated from the worship of the goddess Easter.
“Pagan mythology says a mystic egg of the Babylonians fell from heaven into the River Euphrates. Once fish had pushed it ashore it hatched and out came Astarte—Easter [Venus]. Hence, the egg became a symbol of Astarte or Easter.” - Alexander Hislop, The Two Babylons -
Also the bunny, which is a symbol of fecundity, was a symbol of Easter, a spring festival for asking for fecundity. (ref. The World Book Encyclopedia)
In conclusion, celebrating Easter with eggs and bunnies is to worship the goddess Easter. What will happen to God’s people if they join in on the worship of Easter?
“Because they forsook him [LORD] and served Baal and the Ashtoreths [Easter] ... In his anger against Israel ... the LORD was against them to defeat them ...They were in great distress.” Jdg 2:11–15
Deadly disasters came upon the Israelites when they worshiped Easter [Ashtoreth]. Today too, if we worship Easter, disasters will upon us. Then, how can we keep the Resurrection Day in accordance with the Bible?
On the first day of the week [Sunday], early in the morning, Jesus rose from the dead and appeared to His disciples, but they did not recognize Him. When the disciples ate the bread on that day, they were able to recognize Jesus (Luke 24).
So the disciples kept the regulation of eating the bread on the Resurrection Day, following Jesus’ teaching (Ac 20:7).
According to the Bible, we should break bread on the Resurrection Day (Ac 20:7). Easter, on which people eat eggs, is a regulation to worship another god.
Christ Ahnsahnghong came to the earth and made known to us how to keep the Resurrection Day of the New Covenant. Please come to the Church of God and receive the resurrection of life by keeping the Resurrection Day of the New Covenant.
